空間領域因其獨特性成為近年來認知語言學研究
的一個熱門課題。一方面，人類對空間概念和事件的
感知受共同的生物特性影響而具有一定程度的認知共
性；另一方面，用以表達空間概念和事件的語言繫統
之間存在著巨大的規律性差異，這種差異被證明甚至
可以深入影響人們對空間事件的心理概念化。在此背
景下，紀瑛琳著的《空間運動事件的心理認知研究》
從兒童一語習得，成人二語習得和心理表征三個視角
探討英漢語在空間認知表達上的異同，旨在闡釋語言
和思維兩大繫統之間可能存在的規律性聯繫。首先，
空間運動事件類型學的研究表明，語言特異性在兒童
習得本族語的運動表達時作用顯著，它制約著兒童話
語的語義密度，句法結構和語篇策略。但在二語習得
領域，英漢雙語學習者被證明可以基本擺脫源語言的
類型學限制而大致習得目標語中的典型表達，這提示
跟語言相關的思維模式可以在即時言語產出過程中得
以重塑。本書循此線索進一步考察了運動事件類型學
在心理認知層面上的影響。采用心理和行為實驗範式
的研究表明，在兒童尚未完全習得本族語中的典型表
達時，“路徑顯著”的認知共性起決定作用；但在其
語言能力完全成熟後，語言特異性起主導作用：被試
對空間運動事件相似性的判斷隨其母語的類型學特征
而變化。
