水彩琴主編的《新編英國文學史教程》的編寫針
對現行同類教材語言生澀、內容繁雜的現狀，以知識
性和易讀性為宗旨，以我國英語專業本科教學大綱為
指導，充分考慮我國英語專業本科學生的英語語言實
際水平，兼顧部分高校英國文學課程開設時間較短的
現實，把握英國文學史整體框架，以文學發展不同時
期為單位，把歷史背景、文學運動、文學流派和作家
作品的介紹凝練化、條理化，利於學生在有限的時間
裡構建一個比較繫統完整的英國文學知識體繫。同時
，為幫助學生理清基本文學概念，方便學生對英國文
學知識繫統準確的掌握和鞏固，還特別增加了文學術
語界定、章節練習題等內容，保證了教材的知識性和
實用性。
