本書是全國高等醫藥教材建設研究會規劃教材英中文版護理雙語教材中的《內外科護理學》。本書貫徹了英中文護理雙語教材專家委員會有關教材編寫適應我國高等護理教育的發展、貫徹*****提倡的在本科教育中開展雙語教學、與**護理專業發展接軌的總體思想。教材突破了以往內科護理學和外科護理學的界限，內容以器官繫統和人的基本需求為主線，護理程序為框架，繫統闡述了疾病的發生、發展與轉歸，強調了如何以整體護理的思想進行疾病的預防、治療、護理和康復。本書英文部分本著博采眾家之長的思想，參考了美國近些年眾多版本的內外科護理教材，同時注重結合我國國情，認真把握了教材的科學性、**性和實用性。中文部分是以英文部分為藍本，力圖以簡潔精煉的語言反映英文部分主要的知識點。
本書遵循護理專業本科培養目標的要求，內容的深度、廣度適合護理專業本科教學使用，也可以作為護理教師、臨床護士、護士學生內外科護理專業的參考書和學習專業英語的教材。
